Our radiation therapy program

The Paul Siebenmorgen Cancer Center is the first facility in the Wabash Valley to use the latest technologies in radiation oncology-intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) and image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT).

IMRT delivers doses of radiation with different intensity levels within 2-millimeter square segments. This limits the radiation dose to the tumor while minimizing the dose to surrounding areas of the body, lessening possible side effects.

IGRT provides precise delivery of radiation by verifying the exact location of the tumor every day. This allows normal tissues to receive minimal radiation.

Our cancer center uses advanced 3D computer planning technology to preplan precise radiation treatments. This system allows your doctor to visualize various radiation beam approaches so he or she can select the plan that best targets the tumor. It also allows our team to spare the greatest amount of healthy tissue. This planning process is done after the patient leaves the clinical setting, which reduces the time the patient spends in the radiation department.
