At Terre Haute Regional Hospital, critical care includes the intensive care unit (ICU), intermediate care unit (IMC), cardiac cath lab and respiratory care services.

In the ICU and IMC, medical and surgical services are provided for a wide variety of conditions, serving primarily an adult population. Our licensed and professional nursing staff has many years of critical care experience. These units receive referrals from many of the hospitals in our rural Wabash Valley communities to continue treatment of complex, critically ill patients.

Critical care ICU technology

Terre Haute Regional Hospital has two cardiac cath labs with state-of-the-art technology and equipment for monitoring patients, including an external artificial heart device. Images from your cardiac catheterization and interventional procedures can be stored and retrieved digitally. The cath lab is available 24/7 to deal with any cardiac or other circulatory emergency.

Cardiac procedures

In our cath lab, your cardiologist or radiologist can perform any diagnostic test relating to the circulation in your heart, brain, torso, arms or legs. Additionally, they can perform interventional procedures like balloon angioplasty, stent deployment and atherectomies. For more information read about Cardiac Cath / Angioplasty.
